13 Months

Happy 13 Months in Heaven, sweet Hannah. Mommy loves you.

I was in Carter's the other day to get Bobby a fall jacket. They have a little Lego table in the middle of the store for the kids to play with while the parents shop. Bobby was happily playing with 2 little girls.

(Caution: TRIGGER)

I hear him saying "Ellie Belles". (His sister that I am currently pregnant with)

The little girls are saying, "Eyebrows?" I said, "No, Ellie Belles. He's talking about his little sister." The little girl asks, "Do you have a baby in your belly?"

Then, Bobby, "I have another sister, too. Her name is Hanni."

Big smile on that sweet face.

My heart breaks.

Why does it have to be so hard sometimes? Why in all his innocence does he know that babies can die and go to Heaven?

13 Months, Hannah. I love you more than words can say.

  1. Hugs! You just never know when those triggers will be. I was crying at work just last week over a sweet note that a friend sent me. Thinking of Hannah.

  2. Love you Katy. Crystal

  3. What a sweet testament to all you've done to make sure Bobby knows, remembers and loves little Hannah. Lots of love.

  4. That is just awesome that Bobby knows who his little sister is! I know exactly what you mean makes me sad that Carley thinks all babies are sick. I am glad she knows that they get to go to a better place, but it is still hard..Praying for you as always.

  5. hugs,hugs,hugs!!!! the sweet precious innocence of a child... all he knows is that he loves his 2 sisters!!!!! it breaks our hearts but isn't it sweet comfort that we'll never have to explain our love for our heavenly babies to our precious ones here on earth that love them as much as we do!!!!

    sending you hugs and prayers today....

  6. Children can stop us in our tracks sometimes can't they? Praying for you sweet friend!

  7. Oh Katy,

    I cry every day over something that triggers tears. I only wish Bobby never had to know that babies die and go to heaven :( However, I do find peace in the sweet way he honors Hanni.

    Sending you love, as we never get over such pain, we just learn to get through it.

  8. It is sad but I love that our boys do know that there is a heaven that has a piece of them there. My son ALWAYS talks about Sami, it breaks my heart but it warms it up because unlike most people he isn't afraid to mention her and love her so openly. I hope it never changes.
    BTW, Julian loves that little lego table too. He goes straight to it and gives me a chance to shop a little in piece.

  9. Sending you lots of love and {{HUGS}}

  10. Boy I wish I had the answer to that Katy, I wish none of us had to know that sad fact. :( (((HUGS)))

  11. I know it's heartbreaking....but it's also SO precious to know how much that sweet little boy loves his sisterS. I agree--it's a testament to your parenting and it's a testament to how love doesn't just depend on whether or not you can actually touch and feel the other person.

    Sweet, sweet Bobby!!!!

  12. Im so sorry. Comments like that are hard and tend to kinda slap reality back in your face. I wish it wasnt this way. Sending much love your way!

  13. What a sweet and tender moment. I can also understand how it can bring things up to the surface. God Bless!

  14. Although, heartbreaking any young child knows babies go to Heaven it is awesome Bobby knows and loves both his sisters. I don’t know if this was the first time Bobby has mentioned Hannah or not, but it does get easier. When Tatum first start to mention Payton I would get chocked up and start weeping. Even now there are times she’ll say something that I’m not prepared for but for the most part I find comfort in her knowing she has a younger sister. {{Hugs}}
